whey protein offers a number of different health benefits, including
assisting in the production of lean muscle mass. Without protein, you
can spend hours at a time in the gym and try your hardest to put on
muscle but will not be able to, simply because you can not grow muscle
without protein. Organic whey protein has also been found to be
beneficial for weight loss, specifically fat loss.

It
also helps with proper brain function, and enhances immune function by
increasing important glutathione levels. It has also been researched in
prevention and life extension studies for such ailments and diseases as
cancer and AIDS, and may be able to help T-cell activity and decrease
the wasting of tissues during illness, therefore increasing well-being
and the speed of recovery in general.

Organic whey
protein is actually now known as being the most biologically available
protein on the market, which is quite an accomplishment. This is
because the organic whey protein is the most easily absorbed, easy to
utilize protein which offers the most protein per serving.

How Much to Take

Although
organic whey protein is obviously incredibly healthy for you, as with
most other products there is a limit to how much you should take.
Depending on what your goals are, your protein intake will differ from
everyone else. For instance bodybuilders, who are the athletes that
tend to rely on whey protein the most, will normally consume about 150
grams or more a day in order to keep up their physique.

Click here for the Best Whey Protein Shake Supplement.
For more information about the Defense Nutrion Click Here

Copyright 2006 Konstantinos Marangopoulos

High protein diets
have always been popular with athletes. Their popularity increased
tenfold during the past 5 years with the introduction of the low carb
type diets to the public that include high protein foods.

Regular
people who do not exercise can eat moderately high protein foods. On
the other hand athletes and people on muscle building diets must eat at
least 1gram per lb of bodyweight in order to build muscle. A high
protein diet is the staple of bodybuilders. Bodybuilding athletes
always include a high protein food source in their daily diet.

High protein foods you can include in your diet are:

Turkey
breast Chicken breast Lean cuts of red meat Lean cuts of pork Fish
(most fish is high in protein) Eggs & Egg Whites Skim Milk Low fat
cottage cheese Protein powders & bars

Whether you are going for muscle building or fat loss, a high protein diet plan can certainly help you either way.

If
you are trying to build muscle, you need a high protein intake in your
daily diet in order to recover from workouts and build muscle tissue.
Protein provides the building blocks for muscle and without it muscle
building and growth simply will not occur. During weightlifting and
hard training, muscle tissue is broken down. In order for that muscle
tissue to be rebuilt and grow stronger, we need to eat a diet high in
protein. It's pretty simple.

If fat loss is one's goal, a high
protein diet is also an absolute must. Most high protein foods are very
low in carbs and saturated fats. Therefore by eating high protein foods
in your diet, you also also eating quality low calorie foods. In order
to accelerate the fat loss process, reducing carbs and overall calories
is usually recommended. High protein foods can help you in achieving
that.

An average person who trains hard and weighs 180lbs
requires a minimum of 180grams of protein in his diet per day. This
means at least 1gram of protein per pound of bodyweight. Anything less
and muscle building/recovery will not be optimal. Some hard training
athletes consume up to 2 grams of protein per lb of bodyweight in order
to accelerate the muscle building process. This is not recommended for
most people who require a moderately high protein intake. The total
amount of protein taken every day should be spread over 5 to 6 meals
throughout the course of a day.

Timing of high protein foods is
also very important. You should be consuming high protein foods at all
times but more for your breakfast, post workout meal and before-bed
meal. Start your high protein daily diet by giving your body good
quality protein to start the day. Then, right after your workout,
consume a protein shake that will help kick start the muscle repairing
process. Last but not least you have your before bed meal where you
must consume a slow digesting form of protein (casein mostly) that will
give you a steady release of high quality amino acids throughout the
night.

Eating high amounts of protein in your diet can be very
demanding. It requires a lot of time to cook high protein foods like
chicken and turkey. The best way to get all of your protein is to use
protein powders. Protein powders are extremely high in protein and they
are very convenient to use. Just one small scoop of protein can provide
20-24 grams of the highest quality protein available. Make sure you
choose your high protein supplements wisely. Do not get caught up in
the marketing frenzy of magazines. A tub of high quality protein should
not cost you more than $30 at any given time.

For more
information on protein foods vs. protein supplements, check out:
http://www.bodybuildingapplied.com/index_center_articles.asp?newsId=88

If
you decide to embark upon a high protein diet, make sure you include a
lot of vegetables and fibrous carbs with your meals in order to help
protein digestion. Try to eat at least two salads per day and/or
steamed vegetables. Furthermore, try to stay consistent with your high
protein diet, day in day out, in order to keep a steady influx of
aminos to your muscles. Always remember that if you are not eating
enough protein & calories in your diet, your body will use existing
muscle tissue to repair itself.
Looking for the BEST List of Low Carb Protein Shake?
Click here for the Best Natural Alternative Supplements and Effective Nutritional Support
For more information about the Defense Nutrion Labs Click Here

When you first get into body building, it won't be long before
you realize that you need a good protein supplement. Any experienced
body builder will suggest whey protein, but what you really need is
whey protein isolate. What exactly is whey protein isolate, and how is
it different from other protein products?

A whey protein
isolate is a product that essentially removed lactose, fat, and
carbohydrates during the process of producing the whey protein. It has
essentially been 'isolated,' so to speak. But, why is this whey protein
isolate so important to your body building?

First, let's
look more closely at whey protein isolate. When you start shopping for
this magic product, you will discover that whey protein isolate is a
great deal more expensive than other whey protein products. This is
because processing the whey protein isolate costs the manufacturer
more, it is a higher quality product, and of course, it has more
biological value. Although it may seem expensive, when you look at the
benefits of whey protein isolate you will find that the expense is in
fact justified. With that said, again, let's look at why whey protein
isolate is so important to you, as a body builder.

Whey
protein comes from milk, and again, whey protein isolate has had the
lactose, fat, and carbohydrates removed, so that only the purest form
of whey protein remains. All your life, you've probably heard that milk
is great for you, and while there are many health benefits of milk,
there is a disadvantage…it's very fattening. Furthermore, whey protein
products that are not whey protein isolate products are also fattening,
just like milk.

Whey protein isolate, just like whey
protein, has numerous body building benefits associated with it. It
includes branched chain amino acids that are essential to building and
maintaining muscle tissue. While you are building muscle, damage is
also being done to those muscles, and whey protein is what is needed to
replace what your muscles are losing, which in turn makes your body
building efforts pay off better. Essentially, of all of the sources of
protein out there, whey protein is at the top of the list in terms of
how good it is for you, with whey protein isolate being at the very top
of that list.

Aside from helping you to build muscle,
whey protein isolate is also beneficial in boosting the immune system
and detoxifying the body. Whey protein isolate also helps to boost your
body's natural pain relieving hormones, which enables you to continue
your training schedule. Haven't you ever wondered how body builders
could train so hard day after day? The supplements that they use keep
them from getting sore.

So, when you are shopping for
whey protein supplements, look for whey protein isolate products,
instead of regular whey protein products. The cost may be higher, but
that cost is indeed justified, and you will notice the difference
between the two different whey protein product types almost immediately.

Looking for the BEST List of Low Carb food?
Click here for the Best Natural Alternative Supplements and Effective Nutritional Support
For more information about the Defense Nutrion Labs Click Here

Most bodybuilders would agree that supplementing with whey protein is
an important element in achieving serious muscle gains. This article
will examine the facts relating to whey protein as a supplement and
help you decide whether you need to follow this particular strategy.

Whey
protein is produced during the process that sees milk turned into
cheese. It is also found naturally in dairy products, eggs, soy and
vegetable proteins but none of these compares in quality to whey
protein powder. It also scores highly in providing the branched chain
amino acids (BCAA's) that are important in the building and retention
of muscle.

Whey protein is highly favored by bodybuilders
because it provides the necessary building blocks to produce the amino
acids that the body uses to build lean muscle tissue. Many studies have
shown that whey protein contains the perfect combination of amino
acids, in just the right concentration for optimal performance in the
body. It is also thought that whey protein has a role as an
anti-oxidant and immune system builder.

It is best taken in
powder form mixed in juice or milk, spread throughout the day to
maintain a positive nitrogen balance. Serious bodybuilders often
consume up to 150 grams each day but as a rule of thumb, daily protein
intake for active trainers can be calculated by taking your weight in
pounds and multiplying by 1 or 1.5. But remember, you need to work out
how much protein is taken from food and other sources, and then spread
the remaining whey protein balance over the day.

Whey protein is
a relatively safe supplement but no more than 30 grams of protein
should be taken at one sitting as excessive single doses could overload
the liver. The safety of whey protein has been well documented in many
scientific studies and there is clear proof that taken consistently,
coupled with regular exercise, it will result in meaningful muscle gain.

Looking for the BEST List of Low Carb food?
Click here for the Best Natural Alternative Supplements and Effective Nutritional Support
For more information about the Defense Nutrion Labs Click Here

The question that usually follows 'what is the best protein supplement'
is 'when should I use protein supplements?' In reality, because you
need so much protein, you should be using the best protein supplements
every single day.

The average bodybuilder needs about 1 gram of
protein for each pound of bodyweight. You can have slightly less than
this as well, but not much less. If you weigh 180 pounds, you need
about 180 grams of protein a day. It doesn't sound like much, right? We
aren't talking about calories…we are talking about grams of protein.
180 grams of protein is more than you think!

What you must
remember that protein isn't the only thing that you will be taking in.
If it were, 180 grams may not seem like such a big deal. But when you
combine that 180 grams of protein, with all of the other nutrients that
you need throughout the day, for a well balanced diet, it really is a
lot.

So, how can you consume that much protein in a 24 hour
period? You use the best protein supplements that you can find, and
combine them with regular meals. The best protein supplements are
protein shakes, protein bars, and protein powders.

The great
thing about these types of protein supplements is that short of mixing
a powder with a liquid, or opening a package, you can consume 25 to 30
grams of protein very quickly - no muss, no fuss. Furthermore, if you
read labels, and learn to buy the protein supplements that contain more
than protein, you can ingest many of the other nutrients and vitamins
that you need for the day at the same time, with the same protein
supplement.

Again, it is dangerous and unhealthy to only use
protein supplements. You must also eat regular meals. An ideal schedule
would be to have a protein shake first thing in the morning, followed
by a solid food snack midmorning. Eat a solid food lunch, and have a
protein bar before you workout. Have a protein shake immediately after
working out (within an hour). Eat a solid food dinner, and make sure
that you have a protein shake before bed.

This schedule gives
you a nice rounded use of solid foods and the best protein supplements,
ensuring that you get enough of everything that you need during the
day, without being inconvenienced.

If you work or attend school,
it isn't easy to consume the amount of protein that you need each day,
because work rules and school rules will not allow you to head over to
your favorite restaurant or pull your packed foods out and start
enjoying them. Therefore, the best protein supplements are designed for
ease and convenience. Make sure that you take full advantage of them,
but don't overdo them to the point where you are forgoing solid foods.

Looking for The Best Protein Low Carb?
Click here for the Best Natural Alternative Supplements and Effective Nutritional Support
For more information about the Defense Nutrion Labs Click Here

Adequate nutrition for your body before and after strenuous work-outs
is important in order for you to reap the maximum benefits from your
efforts. An increasingly popular way of achieving this is through the
use of natural Whey Protein supplements.

Nowadays many athletes, especially Body Builders, are utilizing natural
Whey Protein supplements to replenish protein levels that are burned
off through hard-core exercise routines. Amino Acids prevent
deterioration in muscle tissue as well as provide endurance and assist
in building mass. Proteins help supply these amino acids.

- So what exactly is Whey Protein?

Whey Protein is derived from cow's milk and is also a by-product of
making cheese, which in the past was typically thrown out as a waste
product. We now know that Whey Protein is rich in amino acids essential
for building muscle and overall good health.

Whey Protein is also naturally found in breast milk as well as some
types of baby formula. Although protein is also found in other foods
such as meats and vegetables, Whey Protein is known to have the highest
digestible levels of protein that the body can use.

Whey Protein offers several other health benefits like a healthier
immune system, stronger bones, weight loss, and just plain overall
better well being. Whey Protein is also sometimes used to help speed
the healing of wounds or burns.

- Are there risks or side affects?

Since Whey Protein is derived from food it doesn't have any of the
risks associated with man-made supplements. However, you can even have
too much of a good thing if you're not careful. Extreme high use can be
more than your liver can handle. Moderation is always best.

For those who are lactose intolerant, there is Whey Protein Isolate which has less than 1% lactose.

Looking at the above potential benefits that can be
attained from whey protein supplementation (and these are just a few),
it is easy to see why it is so popular. Add to those benefits the
aforementioned convenience factor and a reasonable price tag and you
really have an amazing supplement.

But
don't get trapped into believing whey is something it isn't. The
supplement companies are hard at work trying to get you to think their
whey products are indispensable, that they are "everything" to the
muscle building process. They aren't.

Powders Vs. Foods

Whole
food sources always offer you the preferred option of acquiring your
nutrition. Consider that a law. A quality liquid whey protein source,
however, can challenge that law when it come to post-workout nutrition.

You will digest it faster and therefore
increase the speed at which your muscles are refueled in this critical
time. No other protein source can so rapidly deliver amino acids to the
blood and positively effect protein synthesis.

Due
to this ability, whey may be able to lay claim to being the most
valuable protein for muscle building. However, slower proteins have
value in the muscle building process as well. A protein that is
absorbed slower allows for greater quantities of nutrient absorption.
In this way, slower proteins can have a greater anti-catabolic effect
than whey.

With the goal being to build more muscle than you lose, a combination of protein sources in a balanced diet will be ideal.

Soy,
milk, beef, fish, casein and egg (especially egg proteins) all provide
benefits to the person wanting to build muscle and gain weight fast.
Different proteins provide different amino acid profiles and this
diversity helps keep the body in a proper (anabolic) state.

As
far as supplementation goes, a supply of whey is all you should need in
terms of specific protein supplements. Concentrate on getting your
other proteins from whole food sources and using your whey protein
powder to achieve your daily protein goals (1-2 grams protein daily per
pound of bodyweight) and for use in post-workout nutrition

Looking For Best Whey Protein Products ?Discover the Best Tasting Protein

Why Should You Try A Weight Loss Program?

Well the short answer to this question is that a weight loss program
and be a literal life saver. They actually help you to lose weight and
keep it off, unlike the typical “go-it-alone” dieter who can lose
weight no problem for relatively short periods of time but cannot keep
it off. The sad fact about this, far too common, type of dieting is
that it confers no health advantage to remaining fat. In some ways it
is worse for you especially in the mental health realm. I want to spend
the next several paragraphs in this article giving you some helpful
advice that will not only leave you looking and feeling better but
living longer.

That weight loss programs are important because fat is a killer is
becoming more apparent everyday in the medical research fields. There
are so many organ systems affected by the different processes that both
contribute to obesity and are a direct result of obesity that it will
take ages to sort out all the complexities. Obesity is both an
associated comorbidity of a lot of things and also a direct cause of
many things that are serious and life threatening diseases. Lets talk
about a few of the major ones like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.

If you aren’t convinced to start a weight loss program read on!
Heart disease, caused by coronary atherosclerosis, has several risk
factors that are directly related to being obese. High cholesterol and
high fat diets contribute to atherosclerotic pathophysiology and are
very associated with obesity. Hypertension is another major risk factor
for heart disease and is much more common in an obese person. And
lastly diabetes, namely type II or adult onset diabetes, is another
huge risk factor for heart disease and affects mostly obese people
whose bodies have lost the sensitivity to insulin. This combination of
events in an obese pt. make obesity a very high-risk, but gladly a
modifiable risk factor for early death secondary to heart disease.

Diabetes is already mentioned as being in large part caused by
obesity. I just want to list some of the other morbidities that an
obese person can look forward to other than heart disease. Diabetics
who don’t control their sugars have renal failure and eventually are
dialysis dependent. They go blind due to retinal vascular
complications, they have painful neuropathies, or they simply can’t
feel their legs which eventually ulcerate and require amputation. A
weight loss program sounds nice now doesn’t it?
